Ditching Under-Eye Concealer: Chapter 1 - Makeup and Beauty Blog
For the side by side seven days, I volition be ditching under-center concealer, which is craziness, considering the fact that there was a time when I'd literally never leave habitation without information technology.
No, seriously, I used to apply under eye-concealer to pick upwards the mail…correct exterior the house.
Lately, however? Nuh-uh. It has Non been doing me any favors, and I don't know exactly what happened, because I actually haven't changed my skin intendance routine. All of a sudden, though (or then it has seemed to me), everything I put under my eyes looks heavy and thick and textured and like — pardon my French — crêpe. I experience like I'm looking much older than I am.
Information technology appears that I take come up to a fork in the road, and I tin can either completely cover the dark areas under my eyes but expect 10 years older, or, I tin wear less (or maybe nothing at all?) and expect kinda tired…only closer to my age.
I've likewise realized that perchance the darkness I run into under my optics is all (or mostly) in my head, and that, my friend, is kind of blowing my mind correct at present…
Anyway, all the same non prepare to quit concealing common cold turkey, so my program is to experiment at length with non-concealer-y products, like illuminators, tinted moisturizers, sheer foundations, and basically whatever else I stumble upon that looks like it might piece of work. I hope to notice a solution that doesn't age me as much equally standard concealer.
And hey, maybe I'll get better at accepting myself and the inevitable march of time along the way.
So, in my final non-concealer-y product experiment, I tried It Cosmetics CC+ Illumination Color Correcting Total-Coverage Cream in Tan under my eyes, and I wore it with the new It Cosmetics CC+ Oil-Complimentary Matte (as well in Tan) on the balance of my face.
I picked this pairing because ane of issues I've had is with total-coverage concealer looking as well harsh when paired with the sheer foundations and tinted moisturizers I article of clothing on the rest of my face up, merely these two "Information technology" products are medium coverage (unlike finishes, though) and have similar textures, so I'd hoped that the transition from my under-optics to the rest of my face would be more seamless and less jarring/obvious.
To examination, I blended the tiniest corporeality of CC+ Illumination in the inner corners and under my eyes with a pointy eye brush, and buffed a fleck of CC+ Oil-Gratis Matte on the balance of my confront with a Existent Techniques buffer brush.
No powder. I skipped information technology because I wanted to avoid whatsoever caking under my eyes. I also didn't desire to brand the matte finish on the rest of my face await besides matte, and so I ready everything by generously spraying Urban Decay All-Nighter instead.
Daughter, it worked!
Illuminating CC+ has these teeny, tiny pieces of glitter in it, and it's a petty too much shimmer for me to use on the rest of my face, but I call back it totally works under my eyes. As long as you don't use too much (because so it's like a glitter spotlight on your lines), information technology brightens everything up, and considering the It CC creams tend to skew swell, it also helps to color-correct.
I also like how CC+ Illumination blends so well into CC+ Oil-Gratis Matte, then there's no obvious transitions between them, and skipping the pulverisation and opting for the setting spray instead avoids a heavy or powdery finish. Plus, it helps the products stay put. When I become to remove my makeup at nighttime, yep, the CC+ nether my optics wears off considering I'grand not setting it with powder, merely there'south still enough of information technology there to have the edge off.
I'm gonna keep looking effectually to see if I can discover anything ameliorate (I'chiliad combing through the recommendations you lot guys left in the comments the other mean solar day. Thank you again!), but I'g liking CC+ Illumination and so far. Who knows? Maybe it'll exist a new go-to!
